Directions from St Malo, Caen, Rennes and St Brieuc to Vue de la Rance

Directions from the port of St Malo

When you come out of the harbour terminal, follow the signs for TOUTES DIRECTIONS (All Directions

Take the main road to RENNES / DINAN (N137) from St Malo.

 

Just after the town of Chateauneuf, take the right turning off this road on to the DINAN road N176

 

You will cross a large bridge over the river Rance, carry on the N176 following the sign for DINAN CENTRE, the exit sign is also marked For TADEN and ST SAMSON sur RANCE. You will come down a small slip road, at the bottom, turn LEFT few hundred yards up the the road you come to a roundabout. Take the THIRD EXIT under the BRIDGE, The road sign says to ST SAMSON sur RANCE and PLEUDIHEN sur RANCE

 

Follow this road until you get to the SECOND set of traffic lights. The first set is only a few 100 yards up from the bridge - do not turn into St Samson itself. At the second set of lights there is a hotel on the corner (Auberge du Val de Rance) TURN RIGHT HERE

 

Pass LE SHETLAND PUB / RESTAURANT on your left and we are about 300 metres further up the road on your LEFT. Look for the the VUE de la RANCE sign in the front Garden

Directions from Caen

From Caen, pick up the A84 towards Avranches. Stay on the A84 until Avranches and then pick up the N176 to Dinan (it should be signed to Dinan at this stage).

 

Continue on the N176. You will cross a large bridge over the river which takes you into the Cotes d'Armor region.

 

Continue on the N176 until the exit marked for Dinan Centre. The sign is also marked for Taden and St Samson Sur Rance. You will come down a short slip road. At the bottom, turn left a few hundred yards up the road you come to a roundabout. Take the third exit under the bridge (sign says St Samson Sur Rance and Pleudihen Sur Rance.

 

Follow this road until you get to the second set of traffic lights (the first set is only a few hundred yards up from the bridge - do NOT turn into St Samson itself). Carry on towards La Hisse. At the second set of lights there is a hotel on the corner (Auberge du Val de Rance). Turn right here.

 

Pass Le Shetland pub on your left and we are about 200 metres further up the road on your left. There are white gates, with numbers 5 and 7 on the pillars. Look for the Vue de la Rance sign in the front garden.

Directions from Rennes

The easiest way for you to find us coming up from Rennes is to take the N137 towards St Malo.

 

Take the exit marked for Dinan. Follow the signs for Dinan (you will go through Lanvallay) and head for Dinan Port. Once in the port, head along the road with the river on your right hand side (you need to be travelling away from Dinan on the opposite side of the river to the Best Western hotel). At the end of the port, the road splits into three. Take the middle road up the hill.

 

After a minute or two, you will pass Le Hallerais campsite on your right and then you will arrive at a small roundabout at the village of Taden (written in the flowers by the side of the road). Go straight across the roundabout following the signs for La Hisse 3km.

 

When you arrive at La Hisse carry straight on passing the campsite Beausejour.

 

We are a little further on the right hand side. There are white gates, with numbers 5 and 7 on the pillars. Look for the Vue de la Rance signs in the front garden. If you get to the Shetland pub/restaurant, you have gone too far, we are about 200 yds before this.

Directions From St Brieuc

From St Brieuc, take the N12 towards LAMBALLE.

 

After LAMBALLE (about 5 miles) take the N176 turn-off to DINAN.

 

Follow the N176, but do not come off at Dinan Centre. Continue on the N176 until you see the exit for ST SAMSON sur RANCE. Come off here At the bottom of the slip road, TURN LEFT towards ST SAMSON sur RANCE. You will arrive at a roundabout. Take the first exit off the roundabout under the BRIDGE (sign says St Samson sur Rance and Pleudihen sur Rance.

 

Follow this road until you get to the SECOND set of TRAFFIC LIGHTS (the first set is only a few 100 yards up from the bridge) do NOT turn into St Samson sur Rance. At the SECOND set of lights there is a HOTEL on the corner (Auberge du val de Rance) TURN RIGHT HERE.

 

Pass LE SHETLAND pub and restaurant on your left and we are about 300 metres further up the road on your left. Look for the VUE de la RANCE SIGN in the front garden.
